Robotic surgery within an HPB practice
Robotic assistance is a surgical approach rather than a treatment indication in itself. For selected HPB operations it may provide a minimally invasive platform, while open and other minimally invasive approaches remain appropriate in different circumstances.
Versius platform
Professor Noel’s professional activity includes robotic HPB surgery using the Versius system and robotic-surgery training/proctorship. These are presented as documented professional activities rather than as claims that robotic surgery is superior to other approaches.
Complex pancreatic surgery
The robotic programme has included application of Versius to complex pancreatic procedures. Procedure selection depends on pathology, anatomy, previous surgery, oncological requirements and patient-specific factors.
Clinical principle
The operation and approach are selected for the patient and disease. Robotic surgery is offered where it is considered an appropriate platform for the planned HPB procedure; it is not presented as automatically preferable to open or laparoscopic surgery.
Teaching & proctorship
Robotic surgery also forms part of Professor Noel’s surgical education activity. Public-facing claims regarding Versius proctorship and programme roles will be linked to relevant independent manufacturer, distributor or scientific-programme documentation.
